RICHARD BISHOP is a founding member of the Phoenix-based experimental rock band SUN CITY GIRLS. BISHOP released his first solo record, Salvador Kali, in 1998 on John Fahey's esteemed Revenant label under the moniker Sir Richard Bishop. Since then he has released albums on a variety of labels: Improvika, Elektronika Demonika, and While My Guitar Violently Bleeds (Locust Music), Fingering the Devil (Southern Records, UK), Polytheistic Fragments and The Freak of Araby (Drag City), and many more. His most recent LP, Hypostasis: A Work in Three Parts is now available through the VDSQ label out of New York as part of their Solo Acoustic Series. A Bhutanese guitarist now residing in Asheville, NC, TASHI DORJI makes meticulously crafted sounds that conjure spirits, wrestle demons and tame wild beast. As beautiful as they are cerebral , his acoustic works are reminiscent of DEREK BAILEY's free improvisations, flamenco and FAHEY`s Americana. BEN CHASNY (SIX ORGANS OF ADMITTANCE, COMETS ON FIRE, RANGDA) was so impressed with TASHI’s music that he formed a label - Hermit Hut - specifically to put out TASHI’s music. Returning to our stage tonight is Chicago-based folk-monster RYLEY WALER. This winter, Tompkins Square released his newest LP, All Kinds of You, an impressive album of solo acoustic finger style guitar tracks that evolve with graceful flow, circular shimmers and visceral bottleneck slides to create songs that take on a life of their own in a live setting. Flowing, earthy acoustic work cascades from WALKER's blessed hands and he's been reborn as a troubadour, which he carries on exploring to this day, sometimes in a Pentangling ensemble, or just solo with voice, wood and strings.
