Born from the same Montreal DIY scene that gave us artists like GRIMES and PURITY RING, DOLDRUMS began as the project of Airick Woodhead. DOLDRUMS made a big splash with his first single an official remix for PORTISHEAD. Now signed to Sub Pop and with a full band behind him the band has been touring relentlessly over the past couple years refining their live show which has been described as described chaos. Videos of their live performances show them often setting up right in the crowd with their odd assortment of instruments and quickly turning stunned onlookers into feverish dancers with their 3 dimensional sound. MOON KING is led by Maddy Wilde and Daniel Benjamin of Toronto. The pair have brought their beautiful harmonies further to the forefront than most traditional shoegaze bands would dare, but they haven’t forgotten any of the destroyed guitar sounds that we all love about the genre. There is no lack of fuzz on their debut record out 4/14 on Last Gang it follows two excellent EPs on FUCKED UP guitarist Mike Haliechuk’s label One Big Silence. The band has more energy and joy than a puppy, but the bite and stinging attack of a vicious Rottweiler defending what's theirs. And we can’t wait to see them tear our stage apart. DEEP BREATH are making their Empty Bottle debut, and we can't wait to see what sort of deranged plans this new four piece from Chicago, IL has for our ears. Their sound has been described as basement pop or lounge noise, and considering every member of the band is a guitar player, at heart, these lads pile guitars on top everything like it’s the dang 90s or something. That said, DEEP BREATH is the sound of 4 young men who love music too much to recycle the same ideas as most kids with a guitar do, but they’ll never forget what Neil Young said, “Rock and Roll can never die.” WHITNEY is one of the most tantalizing new bands in town, and how couldn’t they be with a sound described as "STEELY DAN and VAN MORRIOSON collaborating.” They wowed us back in March at JIMMY WHISPERS’ record release show, which is why we couldn't be more excited for our old pals MAX & JULIEN (both also formerly of SMITH WESTERNS) to come spin records and get you fine people dancing out of your shoes on this Saturday night.
