EX HEX is the newly-formed rock trio lead by ex WILD FLAG and HELIUM singer/guitarist MARY TIMONY. Taking its name from a solo album TIMONY released back in 2005, the trio is set to release its highly anticipated full-length debut, Rips, on October 7th via Merge Records. EX HEX's initial offering, "Hot and Cold," was described by SPIN as "a guitar-blazing come-on with fuzzed-out power-pop DNA" and we can't wait to witness the raw power live before SPEEDY ORTIZ conquers the Bottle stage once again. What started as a combination of summer teaching at summer camp and lap top recordings, SPEEDY ORTIZ has evolved from SADIE DUPUIS's solo project to a full-on noise-pop attack of epic proportion. With a love for 1990’s alt-rock and the undeniable ability to own their weirdness, SPEEDY ORTIZ is creating a sound that makes them an oasis in a sea of redundant indie-rockers. The band received the much-coveted Best New Music tag from Pitchfork, who praised their lyrical content as something “actually worth pouring over.” The longer SPEEDY ORTIZ is around the "louder, gnarlier, and more compositionally ambitious” they become, proving they aren’t just another flash-in-the-pan flavor-of-the-week jerk-off-sesh. Chicago-based all-girl band SPLIT FEET open tonight's show with their weird and uncomfortable - not to mention noisy and dark - take on riotous punk-rawk. These witches mean serious business, so show up early and get your head knocked in.
