Well, it's that time of year, when no one in their right mind would host an outdoor party because it's the dead of winter and what the hell are you thinking? We're thinking this is the worst winter we can remember and god dammit we're gonna have some fun outside if it means freezing our asses off. Lucky for us/everyone, we're inviting some kick-ass bands for this snow down throw down we're calling Music Frozen Dancing and there's always the comfort of good booze to warm that chilly heiny.

Yes yes, y'all, we're taking the party out into the street for one afternoon and one afternoon only! Goose Island Beer Co. will be serving beers to keep you warm throughout the day. There will be a chili buffet provided by Bite Cafe, hot coffee from the fine folks at Dark Matter, some Spiced Hot Apple Cider, as well as a few of our favorite rock bands that are sure to set ol Western & Cortez ablaze.

MARNIE STERN will be showcasing her dizzying guitar work filled with cascading hooks and transcendental riffs, as seen on her 2013 LP, The Chronicles of Marnia. The new tracks pull her vocals out of the murky, interweaving guitar lines to make for a thrilling, emotionally stirring listen, but don't think it's gonna be a bummer-fest - MARNIE & her band have some of the funniest between-songs banter we've ever heard. Nashville six-piece DIARRHEA PLANET make their Empty Bottle debut, which is crazy because we love em so much, and they'll be breaking all the little boys' and girls' hearts with their four - yes FOUR - shredding guitarists. Don't think all those guitars are some sorta gimmick, though - these young ruffians can write the shit out of some catchy, punk-tinged rock and roll tunes. HEAVY TIMES kick things off with tunes from their first two LPs on HoZac, plus a slew of killer singles on various labels. Never timid or vague in their desire to burn our brains and spin our heads with their angry punk anthems played at break neck speeds, HEAVY TIMES specialize in melodious ass-kicking and cavernous skuzzy pop. Young buddies RABBLE RABBLE will be spinning records before, in-between and after the bands.

Gates will open at 1pm and it costs you ZERO DOLLAR$ to get in. The event is all ages, so bring the kids and scar them for life. Stick around or come back after for the Official After Party at 9pm with THE LEMONS, THE MORONS, SHAWNTHONY CALYPSO'S HAIR THINGS and DJ JAMES SWANBERG on the decks. It's FREE and will surely add more ridiculousness to an already bonkers affair.
