Hausu Mountain Records presents a night of weirdo, experimental, and psychedelic music that showcases rising and established stars of the Chicago music community. Yes yes, we're getting the whole gang together (eight bands in total) and there will be a side-stage so the music never stops. All your favorite hot freaks will be performing and in attendance tonight, so prepare to have your earballs shot out your eyeholes - it's going to feel great.
Best known as the lead singer and songwriter of Chicago's legendary indie-rock band THE SEA AND CAKE, SAM PREKOP ditches the guitar for a set of complex digital landscapes and electronic effects. His last solo album, 2010's Old Punch Card (Thrill Jockey), was a beautifully noisy, jagged-yet-stately effort of synthesizer-based improvisation and PREKOP's set here tonight is his first solo performance on our stage since Sonic Celluloid in June of 2011. BITCHIN BAJAS, the side project of aforementioned COOPER CRANE, mines 70s Krautrock to delivers melodic, retro psychedelic ambient jams and they've expanded to a two, sometimes three-piece over the last year. Already a prolific project, BITCHIN BAJAS released two monstrous efforts in 2013: A proggy, minimal mind-wipe titled Krausened on Permanent Records and the warped, ambient explorations of Bitchitronics, out via Drag City. American harmoniumist/electronicist JAIME FENNELLY performs under the MIND OVER MIRRORS. Utilizing an Indian pedal harmonium, oscillators, tape delays, and an assortment of synthesizing processors, FENNELLY bends slowly-building, repetitive melodies into massive sonic mountains. QUICKSAILS is the solo project of BEN BILLINGTON (TIGER HATCHERY, MOONRISES, WHITE PRISM, & many others) and it sounds a hell of a lot like being lost inside of a Nintendo game whilst tripping one's face off. Chicago-based three-piece GOOD WILLSMITH bring their droning, ambient noise with psychedelic leanings, making music out of extended loops, analog synth elements, and standard rock instrumentation processed through electronics - the result is a seriously psychedelic mindfuck. Kent, OH's weavy jammers MOTH COCK and New York's kinetic dronesters SUGARM crash their spaceships into the Bottle and will kick the Hausu Mountain Fest off right.
