With An Object, their fourth full-length album, NO AGE has forgone the straight and narrow route, landing in a strange and unexpected place, feet planted in fresh, fertile soil. This new LP finds drummer/vocalist DEAN SPUNT exploding from behind his kit, landing percussive blows with amplified contact mics, 4-string bass guitars, and prepared speakers, as well as traditional forms of lumber and metal. Meanwhile, guitarist RANDY RANDALL corrals his previously lush, spastic, sprawling arrangements into taught, refined, rats’ nests. The record comes out on August 10th, on trusty ol' Sub Pop, and we're creamin' our jeans waiting for the dudely dudes of NO AGE to return to play the Bottle... for their first time since 2007! Staples of the city's eclectic rock community since the mid-90s, JOAN OF ARC is an ever-evolving entity of the "old school" indie-rock ethos, combining influences from innumerable genres to create their mind-bending musical output. The band comes to open tonight's show, their first one here since they hosted the Joan of Arc Don't Mind Control Variety Show way back in January of 2010. CLUB NUTZ, a website/tv show and comedy/music label that also functions as an actual club, will be coordinating open mic stand-up sets in between bands. It should be pretty weird. CLUB NUTZ part of the night will feature guest DJ JUICEBOXXX, a Milwaukee/LA rapper who we love around these parts. Wowe, what a night it shall be.
