Featuring two vocalists, crushing guitars, asphyxiating bass, rich analog synths and pummeling drums, BEAK return tonight with the angular doomsday prog metal found on their debut LP, 2012's Eyrie. Of the effort, The Phoenix says one word describes the debut, “brutal…listening to it is probably akin to what it feels like to be one of those crash-test dummies going through a windshield,” and The Aquarian praises the bands ability to create “a world in which there is no escape and the only thing left to do is listen to Eyrie all over again. The eerie prog-rock release from the quintet is just the start to where the band can go. In a word: surprising.” Chicago-born metal jazz/sludge/punk/experimental noise project SCIENTIST features ex-YAKUZA member ERIC PLONKA (guitar/vox) and ex- FIREISBORN members JUSTIN CAPE (drums) and PATRICK AUCLAIR (bass). Their new album Advanced Idea Mechanics, produced by SANFORD PARKER, includes guest appearances by STAVROS GIANNOPOLOUS of THE ATLAS MOTH, BRUCE LAMONT of YAKUZA and BLOODIEST and JEFF LYMAN of DEAD SHERIFF. The album finds some unconventional "metal" instrumentation, as seen in SCIENTIST's previous work and they're a must see live band that destroy on stage. Columbus, OH's BEFORE THE EYEWALL are a heavy-psych instrumental trio who crush listeners with their pulverizing attack, as seen on their debut full-length album released in March of this year. Pushing vintage amps to the max and featuring screaming guitar melodies layered over distorted bass, sludge breakdowns and blast beats, ARBOGAST return to the Bottle tonight with their infusion of classic thrash, metal and punk.
