A night of party/goth and punk to keep it dark and weird over here. Just how we like it.
NONNIE PARRY is a trio once described as "The laziest band in Chicago" and they hold it close to their heart. They make fuzzy, distorted lo-fi rock and have opened for the likes of THE PACK A.D. and L.A. WITCH, and once even hosted the epic Tropic Goth Winter Blast, years before "Beach Goth" was in vogue. Their latest EP, "Karen Greenlee," is about the real life Karen Greenlee, who was known as an "unrepentant necrophile" and was arrested and convicted for robbing a hearse and having sexual contact with the dead body. Real light-hearted stuff! Come celebrate the release of their new 7"!
Girls to the front! VACUUM, following in the footsteps of the Riot Grrrl bands that came before them, takes to the stage with a frustration that just can’t be pent up any longer. This all-girl punk outfit's angry, biting lyrics coupled with driving, fuzzy guitar licks will appeal to fans of Bikini Kill, Sleater-Kinney and Bratmobile.
The alien known as COOKIE returns to open some good ol' "space punk" that none of us deserve, but we all need. Delicious!
Joining the fun tonight is LUNAR TOMB, a minimalist techno entity in Chicago. The inspiration behind LUNAR TOMB's music is the chaotic energy of big cities along with the calm environments of cemeteries. Lone member C was inspired by his night walks in some of the most frenetic cities across the world and translates those memories into multi-layered soundscapes.
