Returning to our stage to close out our Music, Frozen, Dancing block party evening are the unbelievably loud, yet relentlessly epic, Chicago trio THE LIFE & TIMES. As difficult to classify in any genre due to their ever-expanding sonic capabilities, the band's moody, spacey and sonically overwhelming sound becomes even more grandiose live. We should know, we've hosted them here at least a dozen times over the course of their 12-year existence, and it's been a thrill to watch them evolve over the years. Returning to play second tonight is Chicago's own RLYR, a band that features members of PELICAN, LOCRIAN and BLOODIEST. With that pedigree you're probably expecting something very loud that could be described as "doomy" or "sludgy," but you're wrong. RLYR is an instrumental rock band that takes a far more pop-oriented approach than their members might suggest while still peeling your face off your skull. Starting the evening of is local rock band SEQUOIA. After two full-lengths epitomizing the Midwest power trio sound, the band added a fourth member and started kicking some major ass. Lush walls of sound and slashing twin guitars soar over fierce, rhythmic drum beats. Get ready to rock, Chicago.
